Objective

To study the related factors affecting breastfeeding after cesarean section, analysis the important role of nursing interventions in breastfeeding after cesarean section.

Methods

From January 2013 to September 2012, a total of 116 cases parturients with cesarean section in Anyue Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were recruited. According to nursing interventions, they were randomly divided into observation group (n= 58, to practice targeted nursing intervention) and control group (n = 58, to practice routine care interventions) by admission odd and even numbers. Maternal breastfeeding rates, lactational rates, and lactational scores were statistically analyzed between two groups. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of Anyue Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Informed consent was obtained from each participant. There had no significance differences between two groups in general clinical data of each parturient and each neonate(P>0.05).

Results

After different nursing interventions, rate of breast feeding in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.05). There had no significance difference between two groups in 12 h lactational rates (P > 0.05), but within 24 h and 48 h lactational rates in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05). Lactational scores within 48 h and 72 h in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05).

Conclusion

Postoperative targeted nursing intervention can effectively improve maternal breastfeeding rates and lactational scores within 48 h and 72 h.
