Objective

To explore the clinical significance of monitoring of adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein(FABP4) and blood fat levels in serum of preeclampsia(PE) pregnant women.

Methods

A total of 40 pregnant women who diagnosed as PE in department of Obstetric, Second Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao Medical University(Qingdao Central Hospital) from October 2010 to October 2012 were bringing into PE group and 40 healthy pregnant women who made regular prenatal examination in the same hospital were bringing into control group. In accordance with PE classification, PE group was further divided into severe preeclampsia (SPE) subgroup (n=22) and mild preeclampsia (MPE) subgroup (n=18). The serum levels of FABP4, triglyceride(TG), total cholesterol(TC), low density lipoprotein (LDH) and high density lipoprotein(HLD) were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and full automatic biochemical analyzer, and compared the data between different groups and subgroups, analyzed the correlation between FABP4 and lipoproteins levels in PE group. There were no significant differences between PE and control group, SPE and MPE subgroup in average age, gestational age and late pregnancy body mass(P>0.05). The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of Second Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao Medical University(Qingdao Central Hospital). Informed consent was obtained from each participant.

Results

①The serum levels of FABP4, TC, TG and LDL in SPE and MPE subgroup were significantly higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01); while the serum level of HDL in these two subgroups were significantly lower than that in control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01). There were no significant differences between SPE and MPE subgroup in serum levels of FABP4, TC, TG, HDL and LDL(P>0.05). ②The serum levels of FABP4 and TG had positive correlation in PE group(r=0.86, P<0.01), while the serum levels of FABP4 and HDL had negative correlation in PE group (r=-0.98, P<0.01).

Conclusion

The increased serum level of FABP4 and lipid metabolism disorders may be associated with the pathogenesis of PE.
