Objective

To explore the correlation of BsmⅠ vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphism and type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM) in children.

Methods

Taking"VDR","vitamin D receptor","T1DM","type 1 diabetes mellitus","gene polymorphism"as the key words, We searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMbase, Springer, Ovid, Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CNKI), China Biology Medicine (CBM) and Wanfang Data to collected all the publications about the correlation between BsmVDR gene polymorphism and T1DM in children. Meta-analysis was performed for checking the difference between two groups about genotypes such as Bb, bb, Bb+ bb by Revman 5.1 software.

Results

A total of 7 studies involving 948 T1DM children and 1055 healthy children were included in the Meta-analysis.According to the heterogeneity test results of these studies, pooled OR value(95%CI) of Meta-analysis of Bb, bb, Bb+ bb genotype of BsmVDR gene polymorphism by fixed effect model were 0.68(0.48-0.96), 0.64(0.47-0.88) and 0.63 (0.48-0.82).

Conclusions

This Meta-analysis demonstrates the correlation between BsmVDR gene polymorphism and T1DM in children.
