Controversial debate topics in labor analgesia

Development of labor analgesia is still at the initial stage in China. In recent years, several large projects have been conducted in our country to publicize the labor analgesia, such as" No Pain Labor & Delivery" ," Kang Le Labor Analgesia" and series of labor analgesia lectures and workshops. Now, labor analgesia has a steady progress in China. Obstetricians, anesthesiologists, midwives and parturient raise concerns about the influence of labor analgesia on maternal and child safety, stages of labor, uterine contractions, cesarean deliver rate, intrapartum fever and postpartum depression. Researches related to these fields have been performed worldwide. This review summarizes the research findings and controversial topics in labor analgesia in recent years.
