At birth each baby is separated from their mother and placenta by clamping and cutting the umbilical cord, and there is still debate on the best cord clamping time in newborn infants. There are no formal practice guidelines, and most practitioners clamp and cut the cord immediately after birth which is method of early cord clamping (ECC). The current clinical researchers are shown that delayed cord clamping (DCC) significantly increase transfer of blood from the placenta to the infant, and play an important role in increase the blood volume and iron status to the infants, offers protection from anemia and sepsis. The author intends to review the literature regarding of DCC.
