Objective

To study the clinical curative effects of comprehensive physical therapy for children with tic disorders.

Methods

From April 2011 to April 2014, the clinical data of 124 children with tic disorders who were treated in Jingzhou Maternity and Children Health Care Hospital were chosen in this study and retrospectively analyzed. According to different treatment strategies, they were divided into two groups. Children in treatment group (n= 64) were treated by comprehensive physical therapy-transcranial magnetic stimulator therapeutic apparatus combined with cerebellar and magnetic beads stick system, and control group (n = 60) were treated by rule drug treatment. Statistical analysis methods were used to compare the clinical curative effects between two group. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Invetigation in Jingzhou Maternity and Children Health Care Hospital. Informed consent was obtained from the guardians of all patients. There were no statistically significant differences on the age, gender, course and types of diseases, etc. between two groups (P>0.05).

Results

The clinical effective rates of treatment group (96.9%, 62/64) was significantly higher than that of control group (85.0% , 51/60). After the treatment, Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) score of treatment group was (28.0± 11.7) score, and it was significantly lower than that of control group [(36.8± 12.3) score]. Clinical Global Impression (CGI) score of treatment group [(2.5±0.5) score] was also significantly lower than that of control group [(3.1 ± 0.6) score]. Both of the differences were statistically significant (P< 0.05).

Conclusion

Comprehensive physical therapy-transcranial magnetic stimulator therapeutic apparatus combined with cerebellar and magnetic beads stick system can significantly improve the clinical symptoms in children with tic disorders and improve the clinical curative effect.
