Objective

To investigate the application status of antibacterial drugs in patients with preoperative gynecological and obstetrical surgery from a third-grade class-A hospital.

Methods

A random sampling study was conducted on the use of antibacterial drugs in patients underwent obstetrical and gynecological surgery between June 2010 and June 2011 from a third-grade class-A hospital in Tianjin. Their clinical data were retrospectively analyzed in the aspects of drug combination, drug species, administration route, dose, frequency and dressing change.

Results

The single application rate of antibacterial drugs was 74.67% (224/300), rate of drug combination was 25.33% (76/300), rationality of the drug species was 88.67% (266/300), rationality of administration route was 100% (300/300), rationality of of dosage was 63.67% (191/300), and rationality of dressing change was 64.33% (193/300).

Conclusions

Management of antibacterial drugs administration for patients underwent gynecologic and obstetric operation should be strengthened in this third-grade class-A hospital in Tianjin.
