Clinical problems about laparoscopic cytoreductive surgery for advanced ovarian cancer

The applications of laparoscopy in the diagnosis, evaluation and primary treatment decisions of ovarian cancer is developing rapidly. Laparoscopic staging surgery for apparent early stage ovarian cancer, re-staging surgery for post-operative diagnosed ovarian cancer, and laparoscopic prediction for optimal cytoreductive surgery in advanced ovarian cancer are reasonable and being widely accepted by academia. Laparoscopic cytoreductive surgery for advanced ovarian cancer in clinical is very difficult and still under controversy. We will focus on the indications, preoperative assessment, surgical skills and the safety of laparoscopic cytoreduction for advanced ovarian cancer, in order to provide references for clinicians.
