Concentration of pre job skills training in the role of pediatrics clinical practice of medical undergraduates

Objective

To study concentration pre job skills training in the role of pediatrics clinical practice of undergraduates of clinical medicine.

Methods

A total of 120 cases of 2008 grade and 60 cases of 2005 grade undergraduate students of clinical medicine who were practiced in Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University were selected as study subjects.According to random digits table, 120 cases of undergraduates of 2008 grade of clinical medicine were divided into experimental group of 2008 grade and control group of 2008 grade, and there were 60 cases in each group; another 60 cases of undergraduates of 2005 grade were bringing into control group of 2005 grade.The students of experimental group of 2008 grade were given 7 d of concentration of pediatric skill intensive training before clinical practice, while control group were not carried out intensive training.The training included physical examination of pediatric, pediatric bone marrow cytology puncture, lumbar puncture, infant scalp vein puncture and prepare milk for baby.At the end of clinical practice, students of 2008 grade were given Questionnaire of Pediatric Skills Training survey, including necessity of pediatric skills training, improve interest in pediatric skills training, improve interest in pediatric clinical practice, improve knowledge of pediatric disease and satisfaction rate of teaching aids.Pediatric skills assessment score and outstanding rate differences at the end of practice were compared between experimental group of 2008 grade and control group of 2008 grade or 2005 grade, respectively, and the results of Questionnaire of Pediatric Skills Training survey were statistically analyzed.There were no significant differences among three groups in students gender, age and performance before clinical practice(P>0.05). All students were willingness to participate this study.

Results

Internal pediatrics skills assessment score and outstanding rate of students of experimental group of 2008 grade were both higher than those of control group of 2008 grade and 2005 grade, and the differences were significant(P<0.01). The accepted ratios of students of experimental group were higher than those of control group of 2008 grade in necessity of pediatric skills training, improve interest in pediatric skills training, improve interest in pediatric clinical practice, improve knowledge of pediatric diseases, and the differences were significant(P<0.05); But there was no significant difference between two groups of students of 2008 grade in satisfaction rate of teaching aids(P>0.05).

Conclusion

Pediatric skill strengthening training before clinical practice may give a deeper understanding of pediatric clinical disease knowledge to students, and operate common operations of internal pediatrics proficiency, enhance the practical ability, improve interest and efficiency in pediatric practice.
