Influence of Perinatal Stage Health Education on Delivery Modes of Primiparae

Objective

To investigate effect of perinatal stage health education on delivery modes of primiparae.

Methods

From September 2010 to May 2011, a total of 289 primiparae, at the pregnant age of 15-20, were included into this study. They were randomly divided into study group (n=116) and control group (n=173). Study group received antepartum and intrapartum training and control group only received Perinatal health education. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of Second Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. Informed consent was obtained from each participate. There had no significant difference between two groups among age, parity, and so on (P>0.05).

Results

There had significant difference on vaginal delivery rate between study group and control group (71.55% vs. 49.13%) (P<0.01). There also had significant difference on cesarean section, vaginal assistant labor between study group and control group (21.55% vs. 36.42%, 6.90% vs. 14.45%) (P<0.05).

Conclusions

Systemic perinatal stage health education can increase the rate of vaginal delivery, decrease the rate of cesarean section and assisted vaginal delivery, and shorten the time of birth process, which is of positive significance.
