Cervical Injection of Lidocaine Combining With Local Mucosal Surface Anesthesia in the Application of Pregnancy Termination

Objective

To study clinical effects of lidocaine in pregnancy termination.

Methods

From January to December 2009, 328 women of pregnancy week within 10 weeks who had pregnancy termination were randomly divided into observation group (cervical injection of lidocaine + cervix mucosal surface anesthesia, n=164) and control group (routine surgery, n=164). There had no statistically significant difference of age, gestational age, gravidity, parity, and weight between two groups(P>0.05). Degrees of cervical relaxation, pain, bleeding amount were observed. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of Xiaogan Center Hospital. Informed consent was obtained from all participants.

Results

Total effective rate of cervical relaxation in observation group and control group were 87.20% and 18.90%, respectively (P<0.01). Total effective rate of analgesic effects in observation group and control group were 80.49% and 16.46%, respectively (P<0.01).

Conclusion

Cervical injection of lidocaine plus cervix mucosal surface anesthesia which used in pregnancy termination could relieve pain, prevent patients from postoperative syndrome.
