Analysis of the Nutrition Status of Vitamin K on 38 Cases of Hospitalized Children

Objective

To investigate the nutrition status of vitamin K on hospitalized children.

Methods

There were 38 cases of children hospitalized in the department of pediatrics for infective disease, the People's Hospital of Tangshan (from October 2005 to December 2005), whose concentrations on protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonists-Ⅱ(PIVKA-Ⅱ) in plasma were determined and quantified by enzyme linked immunoassay (normal value<2 ng/ml).

Results

16 cases were positive in protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonists-Ⅱ in 38 children (4 months to 12 years old). The positive ratio was 42.11%. Protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonists-Ⅱconcentration in plasma had no correlation with children's ages (r=-0.2369, P=0.1521), protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonists-Ⅱ concentration in plasma had no correlation with days of having ill (r=-0.2676, P=0.1043).

Conclusion

A majority of hospitalized children with vitamin K subclinical absence should be paid attention to.
