Surgical management of neonates with critical congenital heart diseases

Objective

Study on surgical management of neonates with critical congenital heart diseases.

Methods

From Jan.1990 to July 2006, 219 neonates with critical congenital heart diseases were operated in our hospital.Their ages ranged from 1 to 30 days(mean 21 ± 5 days).The weights ranged from 0.9 to 4.3 kg(mean3.5 ± 0.5kg).

Results

There were 21 cases died in early postoperative period.The mortality is 9.6%.

Conclusion

The critical and complex congenital heart diseases should diagnosed and operated as early as possible.During the period of surgical management with neonatal congenital heart diseases, the technical of surgery, anesthesia, CPB, myocardial protection and postoperative intensive care are very important.
